[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 249, June 12, 1948 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANVASSING, LOCATING, AND EVALUATING DEPOSITS OF MINERALS NEEDED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PHILIPPINE INDUSTRIES.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two hundred thousand pesos to be placed at the disposal of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, as a special fund of the Bureau of Mines, for the purpose of carrying out investigations and surveys to canvass, locate and evaluate deposits of minerals needed in the development of Philippine industries.

SEC. 2. In order to carry out the aforesaid investigations and surveys the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources is hereby authorized, with the approval of the President of the Philippines, to fix the compensation, and allot the traveling and other expenses, of such additional technical and other personnel as may be necessary to carry out the purposes aforesaid.

SEC. 3. The Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources shall report from time to time to the President of the Philippines on the progress of the said investigations and surveys.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
