[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6268, June 19, 1971 ]
AN ACT AMENDING THE SECOND PARAGRAPH OF ARTICLE SEVENTY-EIGHT OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX, KNOWN AS THE CIVIL CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES (RE MARRIAGE BETWEEN MUSLIMS AND NON-CHRISTIANS).
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. The second paragraph of Article seventy-eight of Republic Act Numbered Three hundred eighty-six is amended to read as fallows:

"However, thirty years after the approval of this Code, all marriages performed between Muslims or other non-Christians shall be solemnized in accordance with the provisions of this Code. But the President of the Philippines, upon recommendation of the Commissioner of National Integration, may at any time before the expiration of said period, by proclamation, make any of said provisions applicable to the Muslims and non-Christian inhabitants of any of the non-Christian provinces."SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect as of June 18, 1969: Provided, That this Act shall not apply to marriages sought to be validated herein if the contracting parties are separated at the time of the approval of this Act.
