[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2087, June 22, 1958 ]
AN ACT GRANTING LIFE PENSION AND FRANKING PRIVILEGE TO WIDOWS OF FORMER PRESIDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. The widow of any former President of the Philippines shall be entitled to a life pension, tax free, of twenty-four thousand pesos annually, payable at the rate of two thousand pesos monthly, if such President was not removed by impeachment: Provided, That if such widow of any President re-marries she shall lose the benefits of this Act.
SEC. 2. All mail matters of such widow, addressed for delivery within the Philippines, shall be received, transmitted and delivered in the mails of the Philippines free of postage if the envelope or wrapper of such mail matter bears on the left upper corner her name. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred pesos.
SEC. 3. Republic Act Numbered Two hundred eight is repealed.
SEC. 4. There is appropriated annually, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sum as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act.
SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
