[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1128, June 16, 1954 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE MORE EFFICIENT DENTAL CARE FOR THE PERSONNEL OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES."



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Sections two and five of Republic Act Numbered Four hundred eighty-one are amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 2. The Secretary of National Defense shall issue such regulations as may be necessary to carry out the intent of this Act, and the procedure for the performance of the dental functions of such dental service shall be defined and prescribed by appropriate directions to be issued by the Chief of Dental Service to the end that the dental service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, shall study, plan and direct all matters coming within the cognizance of such service and all matters relating to dentistry shall be referred to the dental service. The Chief of Dental Service shall be directly responsible to the Chief of Staff for the administration of all matters related to the dental service. Hereafter the dental corps e the Armed Forces of the Philippines shall be known as the dental service.

"SEC. 5. The number of officers of the dental service shall not less than two officers for every thousand of the total strength of the AFP authorized from time to time. A separate roster for officers of the dental service shall be kept separate from the medical service. Hereafter in time of war or other emergency the dental service shall consist of commissioned officers of the same grades and proportionately distributed among such grades as are now or may hereafter be provided for the medical corps, and who shall have the rank, pay and allowances of officers of corresponding grades in the medical corps."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
