[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2231, May 28, 1959 ]

AN ACT GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO PAUL REEVES



WHEREAS, it is the practice of granting Philippine citizenship to foreigners who have rendered distinguished and exceptional services to the Philippines;

WHEREAS, Paul Reeves was one of the few Americans who had championed the cause of Philippine Independence since the early years of our struggles for it;

WHEREAS, he has continued to prove his love for the Philippines by identifying himself with the Filipino people and promoting the friendliest relations between the Filipino and American peoples; and

WHEREAS, inrecognition of his valuable services to the Philippines, it is the sense of the Congress of the Republic of the Philippines to grant him Philippine citizenship; Now, therefore

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Paul Reeves is hereby granted Philippine citizenship with all the rights, privileges and prerogatives appurtenant thereto.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
