AN ACT MODIFYING GENERAL ORDERS, NUMBER SIXTY-EIGHT, ISSUED BY THE MILITARY GOVERNOR OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS ON DECEMBER EIGHTEENTH, EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE, IN SO FAR AS THEY RELATE TO THE AGE AT WHICH PERSONS MAY MARRY WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF PARENTS OR GUARDIANS.
By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:
SECTION 1. Paragraph three of section seven of General Orders, Number Sixty-eight, issued by the Military Governor of the Philippine Islands on December eighteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, is hereby so amended as to read as follows:

SECTION 1. Paragraph three of section seven of General Orders, Number Sixty-eight, issued by the Military Governor of the Philippine Islands on December eighteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, is hereby so amended as to read as follows:
"3. The consent of the lather, mother, or guardian, or of one having the charge of such person, it' any such be given, if the male lie under the age of twenty years or the female be under the age of eighteen years. For the purpose of ascertaining these facts, the person solemnizing the marriage, is authorized to examine parties and witnesses on oath and receive affidavits, and he must state such facts in his certificate. The marriage shall not be performed in case of nonage, .unless the consent herein before required shall be personally given by the parent or guardian or person having charge of the infant, or certified in writing over his or her signature, attested by two or more subscribing witnesses and proved by the oath of one of them."SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
