AN ACT TO AMEND ACT NUMBERED FORTY-ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION AND HOLDING OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION AUTHORIZED BY THE ACT OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF MARCH TWENTY-FOURTH, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR, APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES."

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section twelve of Act Numbered Forty-one hundred and twenty-five is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 12. The sum of five hundred thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any general funds not otherwise appropriated, (a) for the payment of the expenses of the election, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior; (b) for the expenses of fitting the session hall of the House of Representatives and the necessary rooms for the use of the Constitutional Convention, subject to the approval of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; (c) for the payment of per diems to the members of the Convention who are not members of the Legislature or officers or employees residing in Manila by reason of their official position and receiving salaries from the Government or one of the institutions financed or maintained by the Government, at the rate of five pesos for each day of stay in Manila in connection with the sessions of the Convention, from the date of the inauguration thereof; (d) for the expenses of going to and returning from the sessions of the Convention to the same extent to which such expenses are allowed to members of the House of Representatives; (e) for expenses for stationery, postage, telegrams and other office expenses, not to exceed six hundred pesos for each delegate for the entire duration of the sessions of the Convention, commutable on October first, nineteen hundred and compensation of thirty-four; and (f) for the compensation or additional compensation of the Secretary and subordinate personnel of the Convention, during the sessions thereof, to be assigned by the President of the same, any existing provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, and for other contingent expenses of the Convention, including the purchase of equipment, subject to the approval of the President of the Convention: Provided, That the compensation of the Secretary of the Convention shall not exceed the salary of the Secretary of the House of Representatives: Provided, further, That the additional compensation of the subordinate personnel of the Convention shall not exceed fifty per centum of the regular salary received by them for the minute clerk and debate stenographers, and twenty-five per cent for the others, in the discretion of the President of the Convention: And provided, finally, That only employees of the Legislature rendering service to the Convention at the time of the approval of this Act shall be entitled to receive such additional compensation."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
