[ COMMONWEALTH ACT NO. 625, June 07, 1941 ]
AN ACT PROVIDING THE MANNER IN WHICH THE OPTION TO ELECT PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP SHALL BE DECLARED BY A PERSON WHOSE MOTHER IS A FILIPINO CITIZEN.
Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Philippines;
SECTION 1. The option to elect Philippine citizenship in accordance with subsection (4), section 1, Article IV of the Constitution shall be expressed in a statement to be signed and swim to by the party concerned before any officer authorized to administer oaths, and shall be filed with the nearest civil registry. The said party shall accompany the aforesaid statement with the oath of allegiance to the Constitution and the Government o f the Philippines.
SEC 2. If the party concerned is absent from the Philippines, he may make the statement herein authorized before any officer of the Government of the United States authorized to administer oaths, aid he shall forward such statement together with his oath of allegiance, to the Civil Registry of Manila.
SEC 3. The civil registrar shall collect as filing fees of the statement, the amount of ten pesos.
SEC 4. The penalty of prision correccional, or a fine not exceeding ten thousand pesos, or both, shall be imposed on anyone found guilty of fraud or falsehood in making the statement herein prescribed.
SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
