AN ACT PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS IN THE PRACTICE OF MIDWIFERY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
SECTION 1. Restrictions in the practice of midwifery.—Any midwife or nurse authorized to practice midwifery in the Philippine Islands is hereby prohibited to perform obstetrical operations or to make internal examinations in parturient cases as well as to administer pituitrin or ergotin or any other similar preparations or derivatives to a woman in labor, unless she is under the immediate direction and supervision of a licensed physician.
SEC. 2. Violations.—Any person violating the provision of this Act shall be subject to a fine of not more than two hundred pesos, or to imprisonment for not more than ninety days, or both, in the discretion of the court.
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
