WHEREAS, among the illustrious leaders of the country whose name is revered by all Filipinos is the late President Jose P. Laurel, Sr., the beloved son of the province of Batangas; and

WHEREAS, it has been the tradition of the Filipino people to name important buildings, bridges and highways after illustrious leaders of the country to perpetuate their names and memories;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree:

SECTION 1. The name of the present road traversing Sto. Tomas, Batangas City and Nasugbu, now called the Sto. Tomas-Batangas City-Nasugbu Road, is hereby changed to "PRESIDENT LAUREL HIGHWAY."

SEC. 2. This Decree shall take effect immediately.
