AN ACT MAKING ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUNDRY EXPENSES OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF MANILA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE THIRTIETH, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FIVE.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be respectively necessary, are hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, in part compensation for the service of the government of the city of Manila for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and five:

DEPARTMENT  OF   ENGINEERING   AND  PUBLIC   WORKS.

Salaries and wages, Department of Engineering and Public 'Works, city of Manila, nineteen hundred and five:

Land transportation :  

One corral foreman, at one thousand and eighty dollars per annum, two mechanics, at one thousand and eighty dollars per annum each, eleven teamsters, Class A, one teamster, Class B, fifteen teamsters, Class C, from April first, nineteen hundred and live; and for hire of assistant mechanics, drivers, and laborers, as may be necessary; not to exceed eleven thousand pesos.

City repair shops:

Five mechanics, at one thousand and eighty dollars per annum each, from April first, nineteen hundred and five; and for hire of assistant mechanics, not to exceed two thousand pesos.

Contingent expenses, Department of Engineering and Public Works, city of Manila, nineteen hundred and five: For expenditure in accordance with the provisions of Act Numbered Twelve hundred and sixteen, nineteen thousand pesos.

In all. for the Department of Engineering and Public Works, forty-seven thousand and ninety pesos: Provided, That the city of Manila shall be authorized to furnish land transportation to other branches of the Government in the city of Manila, beginning April first, nineteen hundred and live, at actual cost, subject to regulations and tariff, which shall lie approved and promulgated by the Governor-General.

LAW   DEPARTMENT.

Contingent expenses, Law Department, city of Manila, nineteen hundred and five: For expenditure in accordance with the provisions of Act Numbered Twelve hundred and sixteen, including the payment of costs in criminal cases under the provisions of Act Numbered Thirteen hundred and thirty-five, two thousand pesos.

MISCELLANEOUS.

For payment of two-thirds of reimbursement to D. H. Burnham, landscape engineer, employed by the Secretary of War to report upon a general plan of architectural, park, and street development for the city of Manila and elsewhere as directed by the Governor-General, in lieu of expenses from the United States to Manila and return, one thousand three hundred and thirty-three pesos and thirty-three centavos; and for payment of two-thirds of reimbursement to Pierce Anderson, assistant to said Burnham, in like manner employed, in lieu of salary and expenses from the United Slates to Manila and return, three thousand three hundred and sixty-four pesos and twenty-three centavos; total, four thousand six hundred and ninety-seven pesos and fifty-six centavos.

In all, for the city of Manila, fifty-three thousand seven hundred and eighty-seven pesos and fifty-six centavos.

SEC.  2. The provisions of the first paragraph of section four of Act Numbered Eight hundred and four, providing the manner in which withdrawals of moneys appropriated in said Act shall be made, are hereby made applicable to the withdrawal of moneys appropriated under this Act.

SEC. 3. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this appropriation bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws” passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
