AN ACT AMENDING SECTION TWELVE OF ACT NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED AND TWO PROVIDING FOR EMPLOYEES IN THE OFFICE OF THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION, AS AMENDED BY ACTS NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY-SEVEN AND THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE, BY PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A PROPERTY CLERK IN SAID OFFICE.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. The second paragraph of section twelve of Act Numbered One hundred and two, as amended by Acts Numbered One hundred and ninety-seven and Three hundred and thirty-nine, is hereby amended by reducing the number of clerks of class seven therein provided from four to three, and inserting one property clerk of class five, and by adding at the end thereof the following:
"It shall be the duty of the property clerk to receive, care for, and issue, under the instructions of the General Superintendent, all schoolbooks, supplies, and other property belonging to the Bureau of Public Instruction, and to account for same to the Auditor for the Philippine Archipelago in accordance with law. He shall be held responsible for all damage to or for loss or destruction of such property under and subject to the provisions of Act Numbered Two hundred and fifteen, and Acts in amendment thereof. He shall give bond to the Government of the Philippine Archipelago in such amount as may be fixed by the Insular Treasurer, who shall approve the sufficiency of the surety or sureties thereon, and with whom the bond shall be filed and safely kept."
SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
