AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF SCOUTING PARTIES TO LOCATE AND FIGHT LOCUSTS IN ISOLATED AND REMOTE PLACES, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the fl authority of the same:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated annually out" of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred thousand pesos to be disbursed by the Director of Agriculture with the approval of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources for the following purposes:
(a) For salaries, wages, and traveling expenses, including subsistence, of scouting forces to be organized for the purpose of locating and destroying locusts or their eggs at their breeding grounds in the unpopulated regions of the Philippine Islands;
(b) For the purchase of the necessary chemicals, apparatuses, and other technical supplies, material and equipments; the purchase of field equipment for the men, such as tents, cooking utensils, etc.; and
(c) For financing research studies for the purpose of discovering the most efficacious and economical means of controlling the locusts: Provided, That any unused portion of this fund shall revert to the Insular Treasury at the end of each fiscal year.
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
Approved, March 8, 1924, for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1924, only.
