AN ACT GRANTING TO THE SUBPROVINCE OF SIQUIJOR THE RIGHT TO ELECT A MEMBER TO REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF THE SUBPROVINCE IN THE PROVINCIAL BOARD OF ORIENTAL NEGROS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives. of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
SECTION 1. Beginning with the general election of nineteen hundred and twenty-five and thereafter, the Subprovince of Siquijor shall elect a Member to represent the interests of the Subprovince in the provincial board of Oriental Negros.
SEC. 2. The qualifications for the office of Member for the Subprovince of Siquijor shall be the same as prescribed for provincial offices in general; but the candidate for said office shall have been a resident of the Subprovince for at least one year prior to the date of the election.
SEC. 3. It shall be his duty to attend the sessions of the provincial board when the latter has to pass on matters concerning the Subprovince; but he shall have no intervention nor vote except as regards such matters.
SEC 4. He shall take the place and perform the duties and exercise the powers of the Lieutenant-governor in case of the absence, suspension, or other temporary incapacity of the same.
SEC. 5. He shall receive a compensation equal to that paid to any member of the provincial board of Oriental Negros as per diem for each session attended; and shall also be entitled to reimbursement of his actual and necessary traveling expenses upon going to and returning from the sessions of the provincial board. His compensation as well as his traveling expenses shall be paid out of the funds of the Subprovince.
SEC. 6. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
