AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE ERECTION OF A MONUMENT OR MEMORIAL TO GENERAL GREGORIO H. DEL PILAR AT THE PLACE WHERE HE FELL IN TIRAD PASS, PROVINCE OF ILOCOS SUR, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THAT PURPOSE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
SECTION 1. The erection of a modest monument or memorial to General Gregorio H. del Pilar, killed in the engagement of Tirad Pass by the American troops on December second, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, at the place where he was killed, is hereby authorized to perpetuate the memory of that glorious action and of the heroic conduct of General del Pilar who was in command of the rear guard of the President of the Philippine Republic, and to this end the sum of two thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be disbursed, either in its entirety or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the erection of said monument. The sum appropriated in this Act shall be placed at the disposal of the Secretary of the Interior, who shall take the necessary steps for the prompt compliance of this Act.
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
