AN ACT SEPARATING THE BARANGAY BASAK-SAN NICOLAS EXTENSION HOSPITAL IN BASAK, CITY OF CEBU, FROM THE DON VICENTE SOTTO MEDICAL CENTER IN THE SAME CITY AND CONVERTING IT INTO A SPECIALTY HOSPITAL, TO BE KNOWN AS THE SAINT ANTHONY MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Barangay Basak-San Nicolas Extension Hospital in Basak, City of Cebu, is hereby separated from the Don Vicente Sotto Medical Center in the same city, and the twenty- five-bed hospital converted into a specialty hospital, to be known as the Saint Anthony Mother and Child Hospital, hereinafter referred to as the Hospital.

SEC. 2. The Hospital shall primarily provide medical, maternity, and pediatric care to the urban poor in Region VII, particularly in Cebu City.

SEC. 3. All the assets, fixed and movable, and records of Barangay Basak-San Nicolas Extension Hospital, as well as its liabilities or obligations, are hereby transferred to the Hospital.

SEC. 4. The Department of Health shall determine the staffing pattern of the Hospital as it may deem necessary for the effective performance of the Hospital's functions and the salaries of the personnel in accordance with the salary standardization law and the civil service rules and regulations.

SEC. 5. All accounts and expenses of the Hospital shall be audited by the Commission on Audit or its duly authorized representative.

SEC. 6. All parcels of land belonging to the government occupied by the Barangay Basak-San Nicolas Extension Hospital are hereby declared to be the property of Saint Anthony Mother and Child Hospital and shall be titled under that name.

SEC. 7. The amount necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act shall be charged against the current fiscal year's appropriation of the Basak-San Nicolas Extension Hospital under the Department of Health. Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for its continued operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 8. The Department of Health shall issue the necessary rules and regulations for the effective implementation of this Act.

SEC. 9. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
