[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1376, June 18, 1955 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF PROVINCIAL SOIL OFFICES AND REGIONAL SOIL LABORATORIES TO BRING THE BENEFITS OF SOIL CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND OTHER RELATED SERVICES TO THE FARMING POPULATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING CROP PRODUCTION.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representative of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The sum of two hundred and fifty thousand pesos is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Rational Treasury not otherwise appropriated for the establishment and maintenance of regional soil labora­tories and provincial soil offices under the Bureau of Soil Conservation: Provided, That one hundred and thirty thousand pesos shall be used for the construction of buildings and purchase of equipment and chemicals, and the remaining one hundred and twenty thousand pesos for salaries and traveling expenses of personnel.

Sec. 2. The regional soil laboratories will undertake all soil analysis and research work in the region, while the provincial soil offices will extend cooperative work to the farmers with a view to solving their soil problems.  The provincial soil offices will also have custody of the official records, gather data and statistics, and give advice and information to the public regarding soils in the province.

Sec. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
