[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8951, August 31, 2000 ]

AN ACT UPGRADING THE QUEZON CITY SUB-DISTRICT ENGINEERING OFFICE INTO A REGULAR DISTRICT ENGINEERING OFFICE TO BE KNOWN AS THE QUEZON CITY FIRST ENGINEERING DISTRICT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Quezon City Sub-District Engineering Office located at the Barangay Holy Spirit, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City is hereby upgraded into a regular engineering district office. It shall be known as the Quezon City First Engineering District. Subsequently, the existing engineering district office, located at EDSA, Quezon City shall be known as the Quezon City Second Engineering District.

SEC. 2. The Quezon City First Engineering District shall assume jurisdiction over infrastructure and public works in all the barangays of the First and Second Congressional Districts of Quezon City. Consequently, the Quezon City Second Engineering District shall assume the same jurisdiction in all the barangays of the Third and Fourth Congressional Districts of Quezon City.

SEC. 3. The Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways is hereby authorized to effect such rules, regulations and other issuances as may be necessary to ensure the effective implementation of the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 4. The amount necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act shall be included in the General Appropriations Act of the year following its enactment into law and thereafter.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on May 29, 2000 and May 15, 2000,  respectively.
