[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTION NO. 1067, September 17, 1980 ]

In view of  recent  incidents/events which have occurred in connection with the entry into the Philippines, and the extension of the stay, of aliens who came to the country either for business or for pleasure and who are holders of Hongkong British or Macao Portuguese passports or Certificates of Identify, (CI), LOI No. 911 is hereby amended by inserting in Paragraph 1 thereof a new subparagraph which shall be denominated "subparapraph f." and which shall read as follows:
"f.  The  maximum durations of the initial period of stay and of  the extension thereof fixed in the  foregoing subparagraph a. for holders of Hongkong British passports and the maximum durations of the periods of stay fixed  in the foregoing sub-paragraphs b., c., and d. for holders of Macao.

Portuguese passports and of Certificates of Identity (CI), respectively, shall be mandatory: Provided, however, that  any further extension of the period of stay fixed in subparagraph a. and any extension of any of the periods of stay fixed in subparagraphs b., c., and d.  shall be  allowed only upon the approval of the Minister of Justice."
