[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 1140, June 17, 1981 ]

INCREASING THE PRICE SUPPORT FOR SORGHUM, SOYBEAN, MONGO, PEANUTS AND CASSAVA CHIPS.

WHEREAS, the substantial increases in the costs of inputs have affected the costs of production, not only of palay and corn, but also those of the other cereals like sorghum, soybean, mongo, peanuts and cassava chips;

WHEREAS, there is a need for the government to guarantee the farmers a fair return on their investments;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase the price support of sorghum, soybean, mongo, peanuts and cassava chips in order to encourage the farmers to increase their production.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby direct the National Food Authority to increase the support prices of the following commodities (Clean and dry):

All provisions of orders and Letters of Instructions inconsistent with this Letter of Instructions are hereby repealed and/or modified accordingly.

These instructions shall take effect on June 17, 1981.
