AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES.
By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:
SECTION 1. The sum of seventy-six thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to contribute to the maintenance of charitable institutions, as follows:
For the antituberculosis campaign, by the Antituberculosis Society of the Philippine Islands, twenty-five thousand pesos; for the Proteccion de la Infancia by the institutions "Gota de Leche," twelve thousand pesos; for the Mary Johnston Hospital, twelve thousand pesos; for the Liga Nacional Filipina for the protection of early infancy affiliated with the International League for the same purposes, eight thousand pesos; for the Christian Hospital at Laoag,Ilocos Norte, six thousand pesos; for the Christian Hospital at Manila, three thousand pesos; to be expended by the Woman's Club of Manila in the maintenance of the day institute of maternity at Manila and refuge for women, seven thousand pesos; for the Emmanuel Hospital of Capiz, three thousand pesos; total, seventy-six thousand pesos: Provided, That such appropriation shall not be paid to any institution which makes any discrimination in the treatment of persons received or attended thereby by reason of religious beliefs, and that before any amount is allotted by virtue of this Act, the purpose for which it shall be used shall be approved by the Secretary of Public Instruction.
SEC. 2. The amounts provided for in the next preceding section shall be disbursed by the Insular Treasurer in monthly installments.
SEC. 3. Any amount which may have been left over from the appropriation for charitable purposes made by Act Numbered Twenty-three hundred and thirty-nine is hereby declared reverted to the general unappropriated surplus of the Insular Treasury.
SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect as. of January first, nineteen hundred and fifteen.
