AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR TO EXTEND THE BENEFITS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE PHILIPPINE GENERAL HOSPITAL TO OTHER PARTS OF THE ARCHIPELAGO.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. The Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized, whenever he may deem it to be in the public interest, to extend the benefits and activities of the Philippine General Hospital to other parts of the Archipelago, in such form and subject to such conditions as he may prescribe. The Secretary of the Interior shall, in conformity with this Act, determine the most suitable places, according to the conditions with regard to topography, population, facility of communication, transportation, and others, and shall order branches or divisions of the General Hospital established at such places. The Secretary of Commerce and Communications may authorize the construction at the places designated by the Secretary of the Interior, with funds of the public works appropriation, of the building or buildings required for the activities so to be extended. No new division of the General Hospital established hereunder in the new locations so selected shall have pay wards, unless expressly provided by the Legislature.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
