[ Act No. 2852, March 11, 1919 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS ELEVEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR AND TWELVE HUNDRED AND ONE OF ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-SEVEN HUNDRED AND ELEVEN, ENTITLED THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS OF NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN, RELATING TO THE BOARD OF MARINE EXAMINERS AND THE COMPENSATION OF THE MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section eleven hundred and eighty-four of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, entitled the Administrative Code of the Philippine Islands of Nineteen hundred and seventeen, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 1184. Board of Marine Examiners.—There shall be maintained in the Bureau of Customs a Board of Marine Examiners to consist of five members, to wit: The Insular Collector of Customs, as president; the surveyor of the port; the supervising inspector of hulls and boilers; and a master and a chief engineer in the Philippine merchant marine, not in the service of the Government of the Philippine Islands.  The two latter members shall be designated by the Secretary of Finance who, upon the recommendation of the Insular Collector of Customs, shall also designate an officer or employee of the Bureau of Customs to act as secretary of the Board.  Any three members of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business."
SEC. 2. Section twelve hundred and one of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, entitled the Administrative Code of the Philippine Islands of Nineteen hundred and seventeen, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 1201. Compensation of members of the Board of Marine Examiners.—The two members appointed by the Secretary of Finance  shall each receive a per diem of twenty pesos for each day of not less than seven hours of service rendered in relation with the work and duties of the Board of Marine Examiners.  The other members shall not receive any compensation other than that paid to them as officers of the Government."
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
