AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. The sum of seventy thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to contribute to the support of charitable institutions, as follows:
For the campaign for the extermination of tuberculosis by the Philippine Islands Anti-Tuberculosis Society, twenty-five thousand pesos; for the protection of infants, through the institution "La Gota de Leche" twelve thousand pesos; for the Mary J. Johnston Hospital, twelve thousand pesos; for the "Philippine National League for the Protection of Early Infancy," under the International League for the same purposes, seven thousand pesos; for the "Christian Hospital" of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, six thousand pesos; for the "Christian Hospital" of Manila, three thousand pesos; for expenditure by the Manila Woman's Club for the maintenance of day nurseries in Manila, five thousand pesos; Total, seventy thousand pesos: Provided, That no such appropriation shall be paid to any institution that makes any discrimination as to persons received or treated by the same on the ground of religious belief, and that before any money can be allotted under this law the purpose for which it shall be used shall be approved by the Secretary of Public Instruction.
SEC. 2. The sums appropriated in the preceding section shall be disbursed by the Insular Treasurer in monthly installments.

SEC. 3. The sum of one hundred thousand pesos, appropriated by Act Numbered Twenty-three hundred and nineteen for the care and treatment of poor requiring medical or surgical treatment, is hereby reverted to the general unappropriated surplus of the Insular Treasury.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect as of January first, nineteen hundred and fourteen.
