[ Act No. 164, July 13, 1901 ]

AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SEVEN, ENTITLED "AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A BOARD OF HEALTH FOR THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS."

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Section six of "An Act providing for the establishment of a Board of Health for the Philippine Islands" is hereby amended by adding at its close the following words: "In case of delay in filling the office of Commissioner of Public Health, or if for any other reason there is a vacancy therein, the chief health inspector shall, in addition to his duties as such, exercise the authority and discharge the duties of Commissioner of Public Health until the office is duly filled. While discharging the duties of Commissioner of Public Health he shall receive additional compensation at the rate of five hundred dollars per year."

SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
