[ Act No. 171, July 16, 1901 ]

AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED SIXTEEN, ENTITLED "AN ACT FOR THE REORGANIZATION OF THE FORESTRY BUREAU OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS."

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Act Numbered Sixteen for the reorganization of the Forestry Bureau of the Philippine Islands is hereby amended by striking out subsection (a) of section one and inserting in lieu thereof the following subsection:
"(a) There shall be a Chief of the Forestry Bureau, who shall receive compensation at the rate of three thousand five hundred dollars per year, and an assistant chief, who shall receive compensation at the rate of three thousand dollars per year, all in money of the United States. In case of delay in filling the office of Chief of the Forestry Bureau, or if for any other reason there is a vacancy therein, the assistant chief shall, in addition to his duties as such, exercise the authority and discharge the duties of the Chief of the Forestry Bureau until the office is duly filled, without additional compensation."
SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
