AN ACT TO AID IN THE HARMONIZING OF THE NON-CHRISTIAN AND THE CHRISTIAN INHABITANTS OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, CREATING THE POSITION OF DELEGATE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR FOR THE NON-CHRISTIAN PEOPLE AND MAKING APPROPRIATION THEREFOR.
By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created the position of delegate of the Secretary of the Interior for the non-Christian people who are under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Philippine Commission, with the exception of those within the Department of Mindanao and Sulu. Such delegate shall be Appointment, appointed by the Governor-General with the advice and consent of the Philippine Commission.
SEC. 2. The duties of the said delegate shall be such as are assigned to him by the Secretary of the Interior with reference to such people and especially with reference to their relations with the Christian people of the Philippine Islands.
SEC. 3. The said delegate shall receive a salary not to compensation, exceed eight thousand pesos per annum, and there is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of four thousand pesos, or Appropriation, so much thereof as may be necessary, for the payment of the salary of such officer during the remainder of the new fiscal year nineteen hundred and fourteen.
SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
