[ Act No. 241, September 26, 1901 ]

AN ACT AMENDING ARTICLE ONE OF THE IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS FOR THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, PROMULGATED BY THE WAR DEPARTMENT, JUNE SIXTH, EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE, RELATING TO A DUTY TO BE PAID BY PASSENGERS COMING INTO THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS FROM FOREIGN PORTS.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Article one of the Immigration Regulations for the Philippine Islands, promulgated by the War Department June sixth, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, is hereby amended, by express authority of the Secretary of War, given September fourth, nineteen hundred and one, so as to read as follows:
"Collectors of Customs will collect a duty of one dollar for each and every passenger who shall conic by steam or sail vessel from any foreign port to any port of the Philippine Islands, except citizens of the United States and persons, natives of the Philippine islands or otherwise, owing allegiance to the United States."
SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
