DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 13 TO 18, 2011 AND EVERY THIRD WEEK OF JUNE THEREAFTER AS METALS AND ENGINEERING WEEK
WHEREAS, since its creation under Republic Act No. 4724, as amended by Republic Act No 6428, the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) has been engaged in providing the public and private sectors with professional management and technical expertise on vital activities such as training of engineers and technicians, information exchange, trade accreditation service, quality control and testing of metal products, and research and business economics advisory program; and,
WHEREAS, there is a need to express our gratitude to the metals and engineering industries for their sustained efforts, in partnership with the government, in promoting, developing and expanding the metals industry and to spread awareness of their vital contribution to the country.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 13 to 18 June 2011 and every third week of June thereafter as the Metals and Engineering Week, under the auspices of the MIRDC and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)
I call upon the metals and engineering industries, as well as the private sector, associations and entities, to participate actively in the proper observance of the Metals and Engineering Week and to give their full support and recognition to the ever-growing importance of the metals and engineering industries in nation-building.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
