RULES GOVERNING THE IMPORTATION OF FRESH FROZEN BEEF AND BEEF PRODUCTS FROM ARGENTINA



WHEREAS, the Department of Agriculture Philippine Mission in Argentina, after a thorough investigation and evaluation of the slaughtering procedures, sanitary measures and disease situation in various plant locations found favorable conditions that merit allowing the importation of fresh frozen beef and processed beef products from Argentina pursuant to Presidential Memorandum Order No. 95 and DA Administrative Order No. 23;

WHEREAS, certain conditions are set up to allow such importations of fresh frozen beef and processed beef products;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO S. SEBASTIAN, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, do hereby issue these set of guidelines governing the importation of fresh frozen beef and processed beef products from Argentina:

1. That only the specified accredited meat plant by the SERVICIO NACIONAL DE SANIDAD ANIMAL (SENASA) below are allowed to export fresh frozen beef (aged, deboned and deglanded) and processed beef products to the Philippines through its local counterpart:

2. That all importations of fresh frozen beef and beef products shall be accompanied by:

2.1 Veterinary Quarantine Clearance/Permit signed by the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture or his duly authorized representative and have complied with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIC) rules and regulations;

2.2 Veterinary Health and Meat Inspection Certificate issued by the Secretary of Livestock Agriculture and Fishing, National Service of Animal Health;

2.3 Other relevant certification on drug, pesticide and hormonal residues, heavy metal contaminants and other contaminants hazardous to public health.

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are in conflict with the provisions of this order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
