RULES GOVERNING THE IMPORTATION OF PIG SKIN FROM TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA



WHEREAS, the Department of Agriculture Philippine Mission in Taiwan, Republic of China (ROC), after a thorough investigation and evaluation of slaughtering procedures, quality assurance and disease situation in the country found favorable conditions that merit allowing the importation of pig skin from Taiwan, Republic of China pursuant to Presidential Memorandum Order No. 95 and Department of Agriculture Administrative Order No. 23;

WHEREAS, certain conditions are set up to allow such importations of Pig Skin;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO S. SEBASTIAN, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, do hereby issue these set of guidelines governing the importation of pig skin from Taiwan, Republic of China;

1. That only the specified Bureau of Commodity and Quarantine of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Republic of China accredited slaughterhouses/abattoir are allowed to export pig skin to the Philippines.

2. That all importations of pig skin shall be accompanied by:

a. Veterinary Quarantine Clearance/Permit signed by the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture or his duly authorized representative and have complied with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIC) rules and regulations.

b. Health Certificate issued by the Department of Health and the Council of Agriculture, Taipei, Republic of China, (ROC);

c. Other relevant certification on drug, pesticide and hormonal residues and heavy metal contaminate as the need arises.

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are in conflict with the provisions of this order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
