Please be informed that the President of the Philippines recently issued Executive Order No. 925 increasing the foreign exchange remittance requirement for all Filipino seamen to eighty percent (80%) of basic salary.  This new requirement takes effect 01 January 1984.

In view thereof, it is strongly suggested that this new requirement be given widest publicity possible.  For all seamen already on board vessels, information may be sent through the masters of the vessels and through the offices of shipping principals.  The pre-departure orientation seminar may be used as the vehicle for information dissemination for those who are boarding vessels in the future.

Strict compliance with this new order is expected from all agencies and seamen.
