[ DOH QUARANTINE ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 17, April 07, 1953 ]

AMENDMENTS TO QUARANTINE ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 15 ENTITLED "PRESENTATION OF SMALLPOX VACCINATION CERTIFICATE"



Quarantine Administrative Order No. 15 issued on January 31, 1953, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1.       A valid smallpox vaccination certificate issued within the last three years is required from all persons from abroad upon arrival at Philippine ports.

2.       Passengers and members of the crew from an area not infected with smallpox who are not in possession of valid certificates of vaccination are subject to vaccination and/or surveillance.

3.       Passengers and crew members coming from smallpox-infected areas who are not in possession of valid certificates of vaccination are subject to vaccination and surveillance and if vaccination is refused, they shall be isolated at a quarantine station for a period of 14 days reckoned from the date of departure from the port of embarkation.

4.       The company operating the carrier where the person under surveillance was a passenger or crew member shall be responsible for the presentation of the passenger or crew members to the Bureau of Quarantine every day for a period of fourteen (14) days.  Furthermore the company operating the carrier where the person to be isolated was a passenger or crew member shall shoulder all expenses incidental to such isolation for a period of 14 days.

5.       Refusal of the company to take the responsibility for presenting the passenger or crew member under surveillance to the office of the Bureau of Quarantine for 14 days shall subject the company for prosecution in accordance with law for violation of quarantine regulations.

A copy of Quarantine Administrative Order No. 15 is hereto attached for ready reference.
