[ LTFRB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 98-014, March 12, 1998 ]

PUBLIC UTILITY ARTICULATED BUS



Pursuant to DOTC Dept. Order No. 98-1127 (An Order Providing Additional Types of Public Transport Service and/or Modifying Certain Provisions of Dept. Order No. 97-1097, An Order Providing Standard Classification for All Public Transport Services), the following type of service is hereby introduced:

"12. Public Utility Articulated Bus

Seating Capacity -70 and above, excluding driver and conductor
Gross Vehicle Weight -20,000 kgs. and above
Body Make -Articulated coach with entry and exit doors, emergency exits, optional separate baggage compartment and tempered glass windows
Routes -Fixed route, regular, limited stops or express
Ventilation -Ordinary or Air-Conditioned
Fare -Based on distance or zonal as authorized by the LTFRB

In the meantime and until further notice, in view of the present moratorium on the acceptance of new applications for franchises to operate public utility vehicles as imposed under Memorandum Circular No. 97-009, only petitions for conversion into Public Utility Articulated Bus of subsisting Certificates of Public Convenience for bus service will be accepted for consideration, after payment of the required filing fees of P 430.00 for the first five (5) units and P 35.00 for each additional unit in excess of 5. The validity of the converted CPC shall be the same as its original expiry date.

All issuances, or parts thereof, which are inconsistent herewith are hereby modified accordingly, superseded/revoked.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect fifteen days (15) after the filing of three (3) copies hereof with the U.P. Law Center, pursuant to Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated October 9, 1992.
