CLARIFICATION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TUITION FEE SUPPLEMENT (TFS), SY 2000-2001



1.  Under the present guidelines, private schools participating in the Tuition Fee Supplement (TFS) program must charge tuition and other school fees not higher than the ceiling of Three Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P3,500.00).  Inclusive of the Two Hundred Ninety Pesos (P290.00) subsidy in SY 1999-2000, and Five Hundred Pesos (P500.00) thereafter. The sample computation is illustrated as follows:

Based on the above computation, the school is still qualified to participate in the TFS program for SY 2000-2001.  However, for SY 2001-2002, the school will no longer qualify as illustrated in the computation below:

2.         The yearly subsidy granted to students in the TFS program is a grant from the government and, therefore, not to be collected from the students.  The school shall collect from the students the corresponding sum of the tuition and other school fees only.  However, if the school has collected the subsidy intended for the students in addition to the tuition and other school fees, such amount shall be refunded to the students upon receipt of the subsidy from the implementing agency.
