REVISED SUGAR POLICY FOR CROP YEAR 1999-2000



WHEREAS, Section 3 of Sugar Order No. 1, Series of 1999-2000, dated 26 August 1999, provides that the SRA shall undertake periodic assessment of the 1999-2000 sugar production and, on the basis of such assessment shall adjust from time to time the percentage distribution of the different classes of sugar;

WHEREAS, the Foreign Agricultural Service of the United States Department of Agriculture has advised the Sugar Regulatory Administration that they will accept the surrender of the Certificates for Quota Eligibility (CQEs) under the Fiscal Year 2000 Raw Sugar Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) in lieu of the actual shipment of raw sugar, on a first-come, first-served basis;

WHEREAS, the surrender of the pertinent CQEs instead of the actual shipment of raw sugar shall be considered as compliance by the Philippines and hence, will not affect our country's sugar quota in the United States;

NOW, THEREFORE, under and by virtue of the authority vested in the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), it is hereby ordered that:

SECTION 1.        The percentage allocation for the various classes of sugar under Section 1 of Sugar Order No. 1, Series of 1999-2000, dated 26 August 1999 is hereby revised.

All sugar production for Crop Year 1999-2000 beginning week-ending 25 June 2000 and thereafter shall be issued with weekly quedan-permits by mill companies in the following classifications and percentages:

"A" or U.S. Quota Sugar 0%
"B" or Domestic Sugar     100%
  100%

SECTION 2.       All other provisions of the aforesaid Sugar Order No. 1, Series of 1999-2000, shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 3.        Provisions of Sugar Orders, Circular Letters, Memoranda and/or other rules and regulations contrary to or inconsistent with this Sugar Order are hereby amended, modified or revoked.
