Pursuant to Department Order No. 5, Series of 2000 and after publication in a newspaper of general circulation on 10 June 2000, the minimum basic wage of US$385 per month for able seaman shall take effect on 01 July 2000.

All shipowners and principals shall make the necessary adjustments on the basic wages of affected positions to avoid distortion in the pay scale of the crew.
