[ NTC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 3-3-2001, March 19, 2001 ]
AMENDING SECTION 3 OF MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 4-6-98, RE IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD OF THE ADOPTION OF A 4-DIGIT EXCHANGE CODES FOR GREATER METRO MANILA AREA
Pursuant to RA 7925 and EO 546 Series of 1979, the Commission hereby amends Section 3 of Memorandum Circular No. 4-6-98 to read as follows:
a. The implementation period of the adoption of 4-digit exchange codes for area code 02 covering Greater Metro Manila area shall be on 02 March 2002.
b. After 02 March 2002, all concerned subscribers may still be allowed the use of the 3-digit exchange codes of sixty (60) days.
c. After the first thirty (30) days of the sixty day period, the concerned PTEs shall start the use of recorded messages to direct subscribers on the new code.
d. All concerned Public Telecommunications Entities (PTEs) are directed to design and implement a common public information drive on a monthly basis until 31 December 2001 and on a weekly basis thereafter. One (1) week before and after 02 March 2002, the information drive shall be done on a daily basis. he information driver shall also use the telephone directory.
Any rules, regulations, circulars, memoranda and orders inconsistent herewith shall be deemed superseded, amended or repealed.
This Circular takes effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation and three (3) certified true copies furnished the UP Law Center.
