DIOXIN CONTAMINATED FOOD PRODUCTS MONITORED BY BFAD



In connection with the Bureau Circular No. 12 and 12-A dated June 11, 1999, the following advisory is further issued:
  1. In view of certification received from the NETHERLANDS government authorities and similar assurance relayed to the Secretary of Health from authorities in FRANCE and GERMANY that they can certify that the products exported from these countries are not contaminated with dioxin, the order to remove from commerce and trade outlets of the meat, poultry, eggs and milk products is hereby rescinded.

  2. The order for supermarkets, duty free shops and drug outlets to recall such products from BELGIUM that are produced from January 15, 1999 shall remain in effect.

  3. Manufacturers should identify the sources of the raw materials used for their products and refrain from distributing them if the source is BELGIUM.

  4. All shipments in transit from BELGIUM, FRANCE, GERMANY and NETHERLANDS shall be covered by the certification requirements issued on June 11, 1999 by the Department of Agriculture as signed by the Acting BAFPS Director Ma. Concepcion C. Lizada.

  5. All concerned manufacturers, supermarkets, duty free shops, and drug outlets are ordered to submit to BFAD a list of products from BELGIUM withdrawn from the trade, indicating volume of products, for advise on proper disposition.
