[ PRC BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS RESOLUTION NO. 23, s. 2001, January 16, 2001 ]
INCLUSION OF BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY AS FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION IN THE LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR SECONDARY PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS
WHEREAS, Board Resolution No. 197, Series of 1998 split the Technology and Home Economics into three (3) components, namely: a) Home Economics, b) Agriculture and Fisheries, and c) Industrial Arts and Related Disciplines and adopted a syllabus for each subject;
WHEREAS, Business Technology which includes Entrepreneurship, Business and Distributive Arts and Computer Education is only integrated with the two (2) subjects: a) Agriculture and Fisheries and b) Industrial Arts and Related Disciplines;
WHEREAS, after a series or zonal consultative meetings and interfacing workshops with the academe, the Philippine Association for Teacher Education (PAFE), the Bureau of Elementary Education, the Bureau of Secondary Education and the Teacher Education Council of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS); the Technical Panel for Teacher Education of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and practitioners, the Board arrived at a unanimous agreement to segregate Business Technology, general and embracing, from the above-mentioned two (2) subjects; and
WHEREAS, making Business Technology as a major field of specialization would ensure a more qualitative measurement of teaching competencies;
WHEREFORE, the Board RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to include Business Technology as major subject in the Professional Teachers Licensure Examination (Secondary Level) and to prescribe and adopt the syllabus of the subject contained in the document hereto attached as ANNEX A* and made an integral part of this Resolution.
The said subject shall be given in the Licensure Examinations for Professional Teachers (Secondary Level) starting August 2001.
This resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its complete publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation, whichever comes earlier.
Let copies of this Resolution be furnished to all schools, colleges and universities offering the course Business Technology for dissemination to their students and graduates.
