[ PRC BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS RESOLUTION NO. 2008-25, S. OF 2008, September 24, 2008 ]

IDENTIFICATION OF THE LEVEL OF THE REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS



WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 4 (a), Art. I of R.A. No. 7836, known as œThe Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994 , as amended by R.A. No. 9293, œteaching  refers to the profession concerned primarily with classroom instruction at the elementary and secondary levels in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education (DepEd), whether on part time or full-time basis in the private or private schools;

WHEREAS, the same Act also refers to œteachers  as persons engaged in teaching at the elementary and secondary levels/vocational levels, whether on full-time or part-time basis (Sec. 4 (b), Art. I);

WHEREAS, the teachers who qualified and passed the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers in the elementary or secondary/vocational levels were registered as professional teachers and were issued their Certificates of Registration and Professional Identification Cards based on the knowledge they acquired and the discipline they were trained for;

WHEREAS, Elementary Professional Teacher or Secondary Professional Teacher is printed on the face of the Certificate of Registration and the Professional Identification Card of the professional teacher to indicate whether he/she is trained as Elementary Teacher or Secondary Teacher;

WHEREAS, a change of level from Secondary Professional Teacher to Elementary Professional Teacher, or vice versa, cannot be considered, in as much as the level-- Elementary or Secondary -- indicates the nature or grade of the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers they passed and the discipline they were trained for;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to maintain the non-interchange of levels between Elementary Professional Teacher and Secondary Professional Teacher indicated in their Certificates of Registration and Professional Identification Cards.

FURTHER, RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days from the date of its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of national circulation in the Philippines.
