APPROVING THE CURRICULUM ON TECHNICAL ENGLISH AS TRAINING STANDARD FOR FILIPINO MARINE OFFICERS
WHEREAS, in line with the discussions on the National Summit on Export at the Cabinet Meeting, the President has expressed concern over the reported lack of proficiency in English language of Filipino seamen.
WHEREAS, the Maritime Training Council has adopted a resolution to upgrade the English subject in maritime education to improve the language proficiency of graduates in maritime courses;
WHEREAS, it is also the intention of the Maritime Training Council to upgrade the English proficiency of the Filipino marine officer in order to help them attain the required communication skills while in the performance of their duties and responsibilities onboard ship;
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved that the CURRICULUM ON TECHNICAL ENGLISH AS TRAINING STANDARD FOR FILIPINO MARINE OFFICERS is approved for application in all maritime training centers.
