As the lead agency and deemed the Administration in the implementation of the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended, please be informed that the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) will authenticate training certificates issued pursuant to the 1995 STCW Amendments, subject to the following conditions:

1.    That the training course shall have been duly authorized and approved by the Maritime Training Council (MTC);

2.    That the seafarer shall be subject to an assessment by MARINA primarily to determine attendance of the required theoretical and practical training, and compliance with the standards established by the MTC.

Training certificates issued prior to 01 February 1997 under the 1978 STCW Convention shall continue to be authenticated, subject also to the conditions above-stated.
