WHEREAS, the foregoing statistical data show that the number of examinees for every licensure examination for Motor Engineers is minimal compared to that in the other grades/levels of Marine Engineer Officers with hundreds or even thousands for each examination and

WHEREAS, the administration of licensure examinations becomes very costly if there are very few examinees and to save on much-needed resources, it is necessary to reduce the number of examinations for Motor Engineers from four (4) to one (1) examination a year it being shown by statistics that very few applicants are taking the examinations.

WHEREFORE, the Board resolved, as it hereby resolves, to request the Commission to reduce the number of licensure examinations for Motor Engineers from four (4) to one (1) examination a year effective year 2000, and to amend PRC Resolution No. 592, Series of 1998 (Schedule of Licensure Examinations for 1999) by cancelling the licensure examinations for Motor Engineers for April and October 1999.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished the Commission for its information and appropriate action.
