[ PRC BOARD FOR LIBRARIANS RESOLUTION NO. 07, S. 1999, June 22, 1999 ]
REGISTRATION OF LIBRARIANS WHO FAILED TO REGISTER WITHIN THE PERIOD PRESCRIBED IN SECTION 18, ARTICLE III OF R.A. NO. 6966 KNOWN AS THE "PHILIPPINE LIBRARIANSHIP ACT"
WHEREAS, in Opinion No. 92, Series of 1998, the Secretary of Justice ruled that electrical engineers and master electricians who failed to register within the period provided under Section 42, Article V of R.A. No. 7920 known as the "New Electrical Engineering Law" may be allowed to register even beyond the period provided in the said law.
WHEREAS, there are still librarians who are civil service eligibles who possess the other qualifications prescribed by the librarianship law, but failed to register within the period provided by the said law.
WHEREFORE, the Board resolved as it hereby resolves to allow the registration of librarians who are civil service eligibles and who possess the other qualifications prescribed in Section 18, Article III of R.A. No. 6966 before the effectivity of the said law, notwithstanding that the period for such registration has already lapsed/expired, and after approval hereof by the Commission and payment of the prescribed fees including penalties, let the applicants be registered and be issued certificates of registration and professional licenses.
This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days from its publication in a newspaper of general circulation or in the Official Gazette, whichever is earlier.
Let copies of this Resolution be furnished the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) for dissemination to teachers who are incumbent librarians in both public and private schools of the elementary and secondary levels but failed to register as such librarians, and to the accredited associations of librarians (PLAI) for dissemination to its members as well as to the chapters of the association for further dissemination to their members who failed to register as librarians.
