KSA MINISTRY OF LABOR WARNS CODDLERS OF RUN-AWAY WORKERS

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia has reported that the Saudi Ministry of Labor had issued a decision banning companies and individuals from recruiting workers for two years if they are caught employing and sheltering workers who have escaped from their sponsors.

Labor Minister Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi said the measure was adopted due to repeated complaints it had received on the escape of workers from their employers. The Labor Ministry will coordinate with concerned authorities in KSA to deport any expatriate worker, be they be male or female, involved in transporting and assisting in employing run-away workers.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, workers who escape from their employers violate the Kingdom ™s labor laws. The new measure was enforced on 25 July 2007.

For the information of all concerned.
