[ BOARD OF MIDWIFERY RESOLUTION NO. 588, October 19, 1990 ]
COMPUTERIZED CORRECTION OF MIDWIFERY BOARD EXAMINATION
WHEREAS, the Board of Midwifery receives numerous complaints from examinees and/or parents about alleged fixers and/or inside persons preying on them which is fostered by the interminable wait for the examination results;
WHEREAS, in the correction of examination papers, we discovered "marked papers" which made us suspect the existence of anomalies or irregularities involving persons but responsibility could not be pinpointed to anyone involved due to physical threats from suspects;
WHEREAS, examination papers are stored for a period of 3 to 4 months in a "secured area" yet remain vulnerable to "tampering" by scrupulous persons;
WHEREAS, the Board of Midwifery is duty bound to preserve the integrity of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Midwifery in particular; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Medicine has successfully implemented the computerization of their Board examination last August, 1990 with minimum problem and difficulty;
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the incumbent members of the Board of Midwifery, cognizant of these prevailing conditions, hereby resolved, to recommend to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) that the computerization process of the examination correction be approved in the Midwifery examination to completely eliminate irregularities, cut down work hours from error prone manual examination correction and to enhance the integrity of this Office. RESOLVED, that if this resolution is approved by the Commission, shall be effective starting with the examination scheduled for November, 1990.
