RENAMING THE EMILIO AGUINALDO ROOM
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malaca ang Palace a National Historical Landmark;
WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation's rich history; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malaca ang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malaca ang Palace.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the State Dining Room, Malaca ang Palace, formerly the ballroom during Spanish and American colonial times, and where the first President of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo, was held prisoner, and shall henceforth be known as the Aguinaldo Room, in recognition of the past service to the nation of President Aguinaldo and the historic value of the room, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Emilio Aguinaldo's service to the nation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 22nd day of March, in the year of Our Lord, two thousand and three.
