[ BFAD MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 6, s. 1994, April 19, 1994 ]

LIMITING THE SALE OF OTC COUGH PREPARATIONS TO ONE (1) BOTTLE OF 120 ML. PER CUSTOMER

The Bureau of Food and Drugs has received persistent and alarming reports of the indiscriminate sale of over-the-counter cough preparations in drug retail outlets endangering the health and safety of the illegitimate users.

To monitor and curb the irrational use of this drug, it becomes necessary to restrict its availability to users, further.

Wherefore, in addition to not allowing containers, with volumes greater than 120 mL, effective immediately, all drug retail outlets are hereby directed to limit their sales of over-the-counter cough preparations to only one (1) bottle of 120 mL or its equivalent per customer.

Food - Drug Regulation Officers are hereby directed to spot-check drug outlets compliance hereof and report their non-compliance, if any.
