[ PSO CIRCULAR NO. 92-62, January 12, 1993 ]
ARTICLES PROHIBITED AS IMPORTS TO JAPAN
The postal administration of Japan in its letter dated 29 September 1992 has advised that a large number of articles prohibited as imports into Japan which include handguns and firearms are from time to time being illegally sent through the mails from the Philippines. These are smuggled in bulk into Japan which are the cause of some serious crimes lately.
In this connection, all employees assigned at acceptance windows are instructed to be very vigilant in accepting mails/parcels intended to Japan and to see to it they do not contain handguns/firearms.
Regional Directors, Assistant Regional Directors, Chief Postal Service Officers, Postmasters, Supervisory Officials and employees concerned are hereby instructed to bring the matter to the attention of the mailing public.
For strict compliance, please.
